Teach Yourself Programming

Donation Coder has a forum (well, many forums) open with sample assignments and resources for you to teach yourself to program in languages such as C/C++, C#, Java, Perl, Ruby, PHP, and others. The forums are also there for you to ask questions (or answer them if you're already knowledgeable) and learn from others. To further your education, click this link:

Smart Bookmarks - Firefox Addon

Ever have too many bookmarks in your bookmarks toolbar? So much so that you've resorted to one and two letter indications as to what those little icons mean? Try this out - Smart Bookmarks Bar is a Firefox add-on that allows you to fit up to 50 bookmark icons in your toolbar so that you don't have to decipher your own code to figure out which bookmarks you have. When you hover over one, the name of the site pops up and tells you exactly where the little white B on the orange background will take you. I installed it today and it has made my life a lot easier because now I can have all my blogging bookmarks at close reach without having to drill down through a bunch of folders in my bookmarks list to get the one I want. Enjoy!

Netvibes - Google Isn't the Only Game In Town

For those of you who don't want to submit to Big Brother...er, Google for a personal homepage, try Netvibes. Netvibes allows you to create your own personal homepage with all the features of Google's and then some:

a. One extra column to put Modules
b. Built in RSS reader
c. Access to GMail, AOL Mail, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and even .Mac mail
d. MySpace modules to have yours and other profiles within easy reach
e. Fully customizable - even the opacity of the site!

Give this site a look. I signed up and I LOVE it. I can even sync up the bookmarks I have in Firefox with Netvibes and access them from any computer in the world.

Google Themes for Any Time of Day

Google has just released six themes for their Personal Homepage, including a City Scape, Beach, and Seasonal theme. The new additions to the home page actually change according to the time of day. The sun will rise, then set and be replaced by the moon depending on your zip code. Check it out at:

Where You At? AIM Knows...

AOL is giving its AIM users the opportunity to find out where other AIM users are via a new plug-in for the client. Forget MySpace, Facebook, or even AIM's own away messages - the future of stalking is here...

Castlevania Retrospective: Wanna Feel Old?

IGN has a retrospective on the Castlevania franchise, from its beginnings to now. The article is pretty lengthy and detailed. My favorite discussion is the one about Symphony of the Night (which I still have hidden away for a rainy day...).
