Leopard loose in the Amazon

Only a few days after Steve Jobs' WWDC '07 keynote, Apple's new OS - v. 10.5 Leopard - is available for presale. It's $129 just like Tiger was/is and right now it's the number one item on the internet giant's site! Pre-order your copy today! (You can do it through the Amazon link on right towards the bottom).

Safari on Windows...Why?

Apple has been a big part of my life for a long time and I love a lot of the stuff they do, but when it comes to browsers, they haven't been the best. Safari is good, but I like to customize my internet experience which is why I use Firefox. I find Safari to be constricting in its approach. There is no customization of the interface and there are no add-ons. The one thing I do like is that when you download a widget or a program, Safari automatically dumps them in the right spots and lets you install them immediately.

When I heard that Apple was releasing Safari on the Windows platform, I was a little happy, but mostly upset. Of course I want PC users to experience the joys of Mac software, but Safari isn't the best way to do it. Most PC users are like me and they've shunned the OS centric browsers like Safari and IE for programs like Firefox and Opera. They too would like to customize the looks of their navigation bars and add as many extraneous add-ons as possible so they can feel like they're making their lives easier when in reality, they're making them a little more difficult.

From what I've read on other blogs, the experiences people are having with Safari for Windows is less than good. Granted, it's a public beta, but some have gone so far as to say that it's no better than an Alpha release. Apple, hear my plea - if you want people to switch, keep putting out the great hardware/software combinations you've been putting out for years (iPod-iTunes, iMac-Mac OS X, iPhone-Mac OS X, etc...). The more people see and use your devices, the more likely they'll switch over when the time comes for them to buy a new computer. I know I did and it was the best decision I'd ever made.

I hope Apple fixes Safari for Windows enough for its official release because I want to see more people switch. I don't want them being left with a sour taste in their mouths because one program didn't live up to its potential.

Softimus Prime...Commanding, Yet Adorable

I LOVE Transformers, especially the classic stuff from my childhood, so when I saw this I got very excited. It's an Optimus Prime pillow buddy that actually transforms! He goes by the name "Softimus Prime" and there's a Bumblebee version called "Slumblebee" which is in the style of the old VW Beetle. Kids and big kids alike will adore these guys and the fact that they transform into their vehicle counterparts is even better! They retail for about $10 at Toys R Us, so get in your cars and roll out!

iPhone Ahoy!

June 29th is D-Day for the smartphone world. When Apple releases their much-hyped phone/iPod/PDA/internet doohicky into the wild, it's most likely going to turn the cellphone market on its head. Recently, Apple has sent "preparation" emails to its subscribers, educating them on what they can do to best prepare for the first time they sync up their new toys with their computers. Get your address book ready, have an iTunes account created, prep your email information, etc...are some of the things they recommend.

I'm going to do my best to get one of these little babies on launch day, but who knows now that AT&T and Apple aren't selling them until 6:00PM all over the country. Some of us still have to work the 9-5 grind in order to make a living and that release time is going to upset a lot of people who can't take off work in order to camp out all day outside a storefront.

What are you doing on launch day? Are you camping? Are you just going to wait until the hysteria dies down? Leave me some comments and let me know!
